Pakistan, officially known as the Islamic Republic of Pakistan is a sovereign country in South Asia. Pakistan has a semi-industrialised economy which is the 28th largest in the world in terms of purchasing power parity. Pakistan is a federal parliamentary republic consisting of four provinces and four federal territories. The law enforcement in this country is carried out by federal and provincial police agencies. In the healthcare front Pakistan is governed mainly by the public sector and handles 80% of the outpatient visits. The public sector was led by the Ministry of Health however the ministry was abolished in 2011 and the responsibilities were devolved to provincial health departments. A drug regulatory authority DRA has been set up in 2012 to look after the centralized issues like approval of new drugs and clinical trials.
