Indonesia officially known as the Republic of Indonesia is an archipelago of 17,508 islands. It is the world’s fourth most populous country. It is a republic country governed by a central government with a presidential system. In the economic front Indonesia has both private sector and government playing a significant role. Indonesia exports various products and maintains a cordial relation with other countries especially Japan, Singapore and U.S.A. The healthcare sector is well developed and has been de centralized starting from Central Ministry of Health, provincial level, district level and to the village level in order to maintain a financial equality between central and state government. The National Health Information System (NHIS) policy supports this decentralization of health sector and aims at promoting improved health services to the people of this country. The government has introduced various health insurance schemes which most of the population are covered under.
