India officially known as the Republic of India is a country in South Asia known for its diverse culture and languages among the various states in this country. There a total of 28 states and 7 Union territories. India is the seventh largest country and second most populous country in the world. In the economy sector India is ranked third in terms of GDP Purchasing Power Parity. It is a newly industrialized country with one of the fastest growing major economy. The Government of India is a federation with a Parliamentary system under the Constitution of India. The National Health Policy revised in 2002 aimed at improving the standard of health in general population. The health programs were initiated by voluntary and private sectors under the guidance and direction of various committees the Constitution, the Planning Commission, the Central Council of Health and Family Welfare, and Consultative Committees attached to the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare. The healthcare services’ organization in the country extends from the national level to village level i.e. national, state, district, community, Primary Healthcare Center (PHC) and sub-center levels.
